A Few of My Favorite Things {Holiday/Neat Blog Edition}

*This post contains affiliate links.

It’s Day 8 of 12 Days of Blogmas!! Today we’re sharing a few of our favorite holiday things. In the past I’ve shared my family’s favorite holiday movies, shows, songs, and books. I’m cheating today, I’m recycling those posts and I’m also sharing my Neat Blog Award answers.  🙂

Merry Blogmas! Day 8 Holiday Favorites {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

Our Holiday Playlist {Family Favorite Holiday Music}

If you visit with my family or take a drive with us during the holidays there’s a 98% chance you’re going to listen to Christmas music. We’ve been playing Santa Radio and Holiday Music channels since last month.  Here are a few of our favorite songs:

The Christmas Song

A Lot Like Christmas

Our Favorite Holiday Shows and Movies

This may have changed… but these were their picks in the past.

Our Favorite Holiday Books

I feel like I should update this one, because I’m sure the kids’ picks have changed (this was from 2014). I think I may update this one when the kids come home from school.

And now for the NEAT part!! 😉

My friend Ashley of Happy.Pretty.Sweet nominated me for the Neat Blog Award. 🙂 And I’m accepting! Thank you, Ashley for the nomination.

Real Neat Blog Award

Here are the rules!

Post the Award logo and answer the questions asked by the person who nominated you.
2. Thank the person who nominated you in your post and link to their blog.
3. Nominate and link to some bloggers you’d like to see respond.
4. Create 7 questions for your nominees to answer & let them know they are nominated in a comment on their blog.

Here are my answers to Ashley’s questions:

        1. What’s your favorite holiday tradition? That’s tough, we have so many! We like to bake cookies with family and friends, there’s Saint Nicholas Day, Latke showdown, our Christmas Eve game night… I could keep going.
        2. What’s the best present you’ve ever been given?  The computer I’m typing this on. My husband purchased my iMac for me when I finished my degree a few years ago. 🙂
        3. What do you think is the best present you have given someone else? Life. I’m a mom and I’ve given three people life. 😀 Does that count? I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Hmmm let me think… For my husband’s birthday (when we were newlyweds) I purchased him his first grill. I put the grill together myself and placed it on our little apartment deck. He was so surprised and happy. We were so broke back then, grilling outside became our version of weekend fun. 🙂
        4. What’s at the top of your wishlist? My hippie answer: world peace, because we could totally use it. My dream answer: this Silhouette Cameo Bundle or a drum set. Real life answer:  Clothes? Camera charger for my neglected camera?
        5. What’s your favorite holiday memory? Oh my goodness I have so many favorites. As a parent I get to live through the magic of the holidays again and I’m loving it all. Seeing my babies at the top of the stairs on Christmas morning with so much joy or to see them chase an elf around the house (even though I just want to give the damn elf a sock (to free him)) it’s the best.
        6. Have you been naughty or nice this year?

7.Do you have a go-to gift you like to give? Books, candles, gift cards. Someone once asked me what would be a good gift for my kids, I answered books. Then I got this reply, “I want to give them a real present.” Books are one of the best presents you can EVER give.

I nominate: All of you! And the 12 Days of Blogmas Bloggers

Please, please, pretty please, join me! I want to read your answers. If you join along please let me know. Consider this a blog prompt and slap that award on your blog, because I nominate all of you, my fabulous friends!!

A Gift Guide For Creative Ladies

It’s Day 7 of 12 Days of Blogmas and we’re talking GIFTS! Today I’m sharing a gift guide for creative ladies.

Merry Blogmas! Day 7 Gift Guide {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

All The Creative Ladies, All The Creative Ladies

Believe it or not if you’re a creative or your know a creative lady, we’re in the same boat as The Queen B herself. 🙂 That’s right, we create, defy, and we slay all day. If only we could say we were making bank like Beyonce. 🙂 Anyway, this summer I was happy when Fast Company had an article about what creatives/business owners could learn from Beyonce. Fast Company always has such great articles that totally relate to creatives, that’s why Fast Company is one of my number one picks for creatives.

One of my top picks for creatives.

I  pulled together a few goodies that would make the perfect gifts for your favorite creative lady friends (and you too, you creative, you) to slay all day.

If You Like It Put a Bow On It

I can’t speak for all creatives, I can only speak for myself, but I NEED organization and lists to keep me in check. This year things got better for me because I became more of a planner. I can no longer live without a planner. I’m in love with this Erin Condren Planner

Gifts for creative ladies: Erin Condren PlannerWhat creative wouldn’t love to create their own phone case?  I have created two cases using CaseApp, and they are the best. The case I created this time around has a quote that will remind me to just keeping being me.

Big Magic is THE book for creatives. I put this book on hold as soon as it came out and my library still hasn’t contacted me. Thankfully, I was gifted my own copy. However, before I got my hands on my own copy I was binging on Elizabeth Gilbert’s Magic Lessons podcasts.

10 Holiday Cards that Aren’t Your Basic Holiday Cards

Day 4 of 12 Days of Blogmas {Cards}

It’s Day 4 of Blogmas and today’s prompt is Cards. I thought about doing a few DIY cards, but honestly time got the better of me. I would share our holiday cards, but ummm… I’m not there yet. Is it really (already) December? Well, it looks like I have my work cut out for me, I need to get moving on all things holiday.

Merry Blogmas! Day 2 Holiday Bucket List {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

So, since I’m such a slacker pants and I do not have any nifty DIY cards to share or our family holiday card, I’ve decided I’d bite the bullet for you and “research” Etsy. You’re welcome. Here are 10 holiday cards I don’t think you’d find anywhere else but Etsy. The sassier the card the better. 🙂

It's Day 4 of 12 Days of Blogmas!! The prompt for today is Cards, so I rounded up 10 Holiday Cards that aren't your basic holiday cards. :)

10 Holiday Cards That Aren’t Your Basic Holiday Cards

  1. Happy Red Cup Season. Let’s be honest… there were people scrambling to get their hands on a red cup to post to Instagram. And now it’s raining red cups on Instagram (eh hem) and here in my home.
  2. Happy Challahdays! Keep the challah bread coming. 🙂
  3. Pugs and Kisses. Always Pugs and Kisses, for obvious reasons.
  4. Who doesn’t want Ryan showing up in their mailbox? Hey Girl!
  5. It’s Christmas sweater weather. Time to break out these bad boys.
  6. I’ll I want for Christmas is you. *If you’re holding a bunch of presents that are also for me. 😀
  7. Let’s Get Lit. Because who doesn’t love to light their menorah?  (The answer is everyone wants to light the menorah here. Yes, lighting the menorah here in my home can cause fights. 😀 #Momlife)
  8. Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Muggle. ⚡️? ⚡️
  9. Christmas is Coming. Oh wait, is that a regular basic Christmas card? NO! It’s a G.O.T Christmas card.
  10. BEST WRAPPER ALIVE. He may not be the best rapper (IMO), but he’s got mad wrapping skills. Also, this shop has pretty dope rapping paper.

Today is Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas and we’re sharing gift guides!! Hold up, did you catch Day 1 and 2Anyway, back to the gift guide. I put together a gift guide for EVERYONE. 🙂 I hope you enjoy.

day-3-blogmas

You get a gift, you get a gift…

Everyone gets a gift!!! 🙂

You get a gift, you get a gift, EVERYONE GETS A GIFT in this year's gift guide. :)

Ladies first…

For Her

Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas: A Gift Guide For Everyone!! {For Her}

  • It’s not a secret, I’m totally in love with all of Shelly’s designs. She nailed it with this choker. Chokers are back!!! Happy 90’s running man dance. 🙂
  • STITCH FIX! I have had two “fixes” and I’m a fan. My fall fix was EVERYTHING. Check it out for youself here. Anyway, Stitch Fix has gift cards!!
  • Let it snow, let it snow, let it JON SNOW!! If your girl is a GoT lover this shirt SHOULD be in her closet. WINK WINK 😉
  • My girl Bev makes the most beautiful hammered sterling silver jewelry. I have a similar pair of earrings that she made and they get all sorts of love when I wear them.
  • Fitbits are cool, but sometimes you want to look a little fancy and that chunky plastic band isn’t cutting it. BUT this silver rose gold metal band does the trick. 🙂

For Him

Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas: A Gift Guide For Everyone!! {For Him}

  • The NFL Ugly Sweater Socks  are the perfect pair of socks for your NFL loving man (or woman… I actually own a pair). My family has a thing for socks.

  • These Captain Morgan tall glasses are the coolest! They are handmade and awesome, need I say more?
  • My husband is obsessive about his Fitbit, and I know he would love the new Fitbit Blaze. I’m not sure if he’s getting it this year, but it’s on the list for sure.
  • Stitch Fix! What!?!? Yes, you read that right. Stitch Fix is for the fellas now, too.

For Kids

Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas: A Gift Guide For Everyone!! {kids}

  • LEGO bricks,  although painful to step on, are the perfect toys to have in the home. Kids can spend hours building and creating new things. They can use what’s that thing called…. their imagination! I love ’em. This super cute DIY LEGO Ornament  is perfect for the holidays.
  • My son loves fact books. He is my phone-a-friend. I’m quite sure this 5000Awesome Facts (About Everything) book would make the perfect addition to a fact lover’s collection.
  • It’s been a while since the last Diary of Wimpy Kid, so the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid #11 Double Down has been an anticipated new read kids will surely love. Who doesn’t love Greg Heffley?
  • ALEX Toys DIY Ceramic Mug Kit is the perfect gift for the kid who loves art and hot cocoa. eh hem… 🙂
  • HARRY. POTTER. Did you just read that with excitement or like Voldemort? However you read it, this Harry Potter Charm bracelet is too cute not to consider for the Harry Potter fan in your life.

For Teens

A Gift Guide for EVERYONE!! {For Teens}

  • Who wouldn’t love this Support Your Local Girl Gang tote to carry their books?
  • After I left high school I thought that was it, I’m done with that. Why would I ever need to hangout at a high school ever again? “Well, Dean, one day your babies grow up and even though you’re not ready for it, they do, so buck up.” Yup.  Since I’ve been at the high school quite a bit, a few things are evident: teens love phones and they love earphones. So yeah, iBeats by Dre are kind of a thing. Totally. I mean… literally. 😀
  • This Stranger Things sweatshirt is BRILLIANT! Will? Are you there?
  • This is the stage in kids’ lives where they would like to pick out things for themselves, so a gift card is perfect. Trust me, I asked a teen (and I was a teen). 😉
  • STICKERS! You never grow out of stickers especially when you can customize them yourself with StickerApp.

Bipartisan Election Day Party Time with Etsy

Bipartisan Election Day Party Time?

Tonight is the final debate!! :::I’ll wait while you throw glitter in the air and do the running man:::

This election season has been rough. We’ve had some lows, low blows, and our WTF moments. It seems like a lot of us are ready for it to all to be over.

Things have become so hostile that I thought we needed a party!!!

What, an election day party, but why?

That’s a good question, and I am glad you asked that question, reader. I am humbled to live in what I think is the best country in the world. I am grateful for our democracy, and despite the turbulence our country has faced over the last year or so, I still have faith that we can withstand what ever comes at us. Plus, who doesn’t love a good party?

People are telling me, you know these people, that they feel like they’re voting for the lesser of two evils. Evils, you know, like bad. Very bad. Maybe like Mufasa’s brother Scar bad, I don’t know. Anyway, because they feel this way you can find fun bipartisan goodies. I think we can all agree on voting for tacos, coffee, and pizza.

So Let’s Throw an Etsy Bipartisan Party!!!

This election has been overwhelming, amiright? But hey it's almost over. So, let's party! I went ahead and took an arrow for you and sifted through one of my happy places, Etsy, to find some bipartisan party goods.

Did somebody say PIZZA!?!?! Chances are you’re either having pizza, hamburgers or tacos, because what’s more American then those three? Yes, I know none of those originated in America (ehem… moving on) but we’ve adopted them into our culture. Cotton Berry Designs

I love Etsy!! Check out these awesome finds for a bipartisan good time. Pizza For President Mug via Cotton Berry Designs

2016 Election Day Party Ideas

All kidding aside…

No, we cannot vote for tacos, pizza, coffee, Mickey or Leslie. But we do HAVE to vote, even if you feel you’re voting for the lesser evil. Who do you want your children to follow as their leader. Vote with your ethos/ethics, gut, heart, because sometimes party fails you. Well, unless it’s a super fun Etsy election day party! 😉 You have other choices than Trump and Clinton… but… well, I let you decide. 🙂

My Husband’s New Friend Michelle

Ladies, you know I’m crazy in love with my guy. So, I know when you read the tittle of this post you may have did a ….

But wait! I know you have my back, and I’ve got yours, too. Michelle is awesome! She’s my Stitch Fix stylist. I know you’re wondering how does that make her my husband’s friend.. good question!

My husband's new friend, Michelle, has style. She actually styled me! I'm not jealous of her, at all, I'm actually quite fond of her. She's my... stylist!! That felt really fancy to write. I'm not fancy at all, but Stitch Fix has me feeling all fancy. Check out my FALL fix.

Here’s Why Michelle is My Husband’s New Friend

She saved the day for him! And when I say the day, I mean MY day. 🙂 I’m not going to bash my guy, he’s awesome. I’ve said it here a million times… he’s my everything and he makes me the happiest. With that said, sometimes, he’s a little lost and slightly last minute in the gift-giving department. This year with the help of Michelle he totally hooked me up!!

I’m not one to spend money on myself, if I do it’s usually clearance or thrifted.  Anyway, after my first box I received a waived fee as a Stitch Fix Influencer for my second box. I told my husband and he was all, “GET IT, WOMAN!” “Your birthday is coming up, maybe something in there will be perfect for your birthday.” So, I went ahead and scheduled a box. Well, before I scheduled my box I made sure to give my stylist a little more info as to who I am; I added a picture to my profile and I sent her some of my style boards via Pinterest. Michelle took that info and RAN WITH IT!!

I feel so fancy saying this, but this note is from my personal stylist, Michelle. In the event you were wondering if Stitch Fix keeps your style in mind when sending out goodies, they totally do. Thank you, Michelle.

The box showed up before my birthday on a lovely fall day.

I cannot even tell you how excited I was to go through this box. My husband saw my face light up with each item I pulled out of the box. Him: “She nailed it. She totally got your style with this one.” He’s right, she did. Everyone was home when I got the box, so I was prompted to give a fashion show, which I did. And you know what, they loved it all too. My husband turned to me and said “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!”

Of course, I wasn’t sure because I’m super thrifty, so I started making excuses as to why I didn’t need anything. Remember how I said the whole crew was around? Well, they totally had their papa’s back on this one. They started to say sweet things like: you deserve it, you never get anything for yourself, you should have nice things too, mama, you look happy and beautiful. And then Mr. Wall Street said, “Babe, this is an investment, a good one.”

Want to see what I invested in? Stitch Fix Box #2

I'm so in love with all the things my Stitch Fix stylist sent me in my second box! Come see what she sent and maybe signup to get a box of your own, too. :)

Where do I even begin?

Toms Desert Wedge Booties: Kept

Let’s start with the shoes!! Toms Desert Wedge Booties in gray, which happen to match perfectly with my gray sugar skull purse. 🙂  My girls love Toms! I actually didn’t own a pair of Toms but I’ve been buying them for years for the girls. I’ve also purchased a lace up pair for my husband.

(Found an OLD Instagram post to prove the love.)

A photo posted by Dean ?? (@mrs_aok) on

When I saw this pair of Toms in my box I was instantly in love and when I was able to walk in them… SOLD! I love Toms too!!! If you didn’t know Toms has a One for One program, you buy something, they give something to someone in need. Gotta love that! 🙂

Can we talk about this Alpine Plaid Wrap Scarf? Kept

my-2nd-stitch-fix-box-alpine-wrap-scarf-and-toms-wedge-booties

It’s amazing! I’m still learning how to tie it in all the Pinteresty ways.  Get ready to see this baby in rotation in more ways then one. It’s warm, functional, and great quality. Totally a keeper.

Market & Spruce Liz Textured Sweater: Kept

My second Stitch Fix unboxing

This picture does not do the sweater justice. This sweater is beautiful and I loved it the minute I pulled it out of the box. There’s a blue hue stitched in the little squares that gives it a unique look that I like. Before even trying on the sweater my husband knew this sweater was perfect for me.

Hi, I’m Dean, and I’m a sucker for sweaters. I have a collection of ratty sweater coats I won’t get rid of, they’re the best. I’m wearing one now and I wore one the other day ago with my Edgar Allan Poe shirt, I think it went perfectly. 🙂 Perhaps, one day this sweater will be in that stash that my husband makes fun of, but for now it’s perfection and I’ve been treating this baby with care.

Check out what my Stitch Fix stylist sent me!! All the heart eyes here!!

Pistola Tory Distressed Ankle Zip Skinny Jean

Michelle was right, I do love a good distressed jean. I’m a (displaced) Texas gal, I love jeans and I love holey jeans. 🙂  Who use to own zipper ankle jeans when they were younger? Not me 🙁 I always wanted a pair though. I remember always loving Susan’s zipper ankle jeans in school. I don’t know why I never asked for zipper ankle jeans as kid, but I always wanted them. Michelle + my husband made that a reality for me. I NEVER, EVER, EVER, would spend this much on jeans. But again, Mr. Wall Street said it was an investment and he also said a certain region looked good in these jeans. 😉 I guess this is where I should start referring to my husband as my Instagram husband because he took these pictures of me in my Stitch Fix clothes that him and Michelle hooked me up with.

the-perfect-psl-outfit-stitch-fixOf course that’s a PSL in my hand. If I’m going to be basic might as well go all the way, right?stitch-fix-fall-outfit-back

Tinsel Odensay Cargo Vest: Kept

I’m pretty sure green cargo anything is in for fall. Amiright?

via GIPHY

I’ve always loved the green utility vest/jacket look. And green also happens to be my favorite color. This vest is warm. It’s lined inside, which is perfect for the PNW, where it can get cold but not Chicago cold. The collar is removable, which I like. I don’t know if I’ll wear the collar much, maybe if I’m trying to dress up things. My teen is already eyeing up this vest. She’s already worn my Toms. I kind of wished this vest has a hood, because PNW. Regardless, I love it.

Fall Stitch Fix Box Unboxing

So, as you can see I kept everything! Michelle and my Instagram husband did great! I’m excited to share how I style these clothes all fall long. I’m in no way a fashion blogger, but I do want to show you how these clothes are investments that I plan to take care of and wear often. You did good, my stylish tag team, you did good! (I also appreciated that one of the companies gives back and another company focuses on sustainability. Those things do matter to me, not sure if Michelle got that from my Pinterest or not, but COOL. For pete’s sake I drive a Subaru.)

I guess I may owe him a box…

What!?! Yes, my husband will be in front of the camera next time. Stay tuned!

YOU DESERVE A BOX TOO!!

Side note:

There is a real person styling you. The more help you give your stylist the better your box will be. Michelle, my stylist, (which feels completely weird for me to say) took my information I gave to her and went with it in the most fantastic way. So, if you do sign up make sure to share a picture of yourself, fill out the profile completely, and add links to your different Pinterest boards. If there’s something specific you’re looking for leave a note for your stylist. I made sure to do all these things with this box.

Sticking to Creativity

*I was provided with products for myself and for my readers in return for my review. All opinions are my own.

Sticking with Creativity

So, here’s where I would usually post a quote. You know I love a good quote, but I’ll refrain from placing a big picture quote, because the quote I want to use is one I’ve used here quite a few times. Which quote? Oh the quote about not using up creativity because the more you use it the more you have… You know, that one. I totally believe this to be true.

Sticking to creativity! I got a chance to get my creativity and create some awesome stickers with my own original designs + my daughter's design too.

This weekend besides carb-loading (only on Saturday)

This girl got creative. I was in the zone like, I can’t stop-let’s do this-I’m ready-CREATIVE. I just couldn’t stop. I’m so excited that I allowed myself to get lost in it all! If you think this is another hint about what I’ve had up my sleeve for like EVER, you’re right, one last hint. Because you know what, I’m almost ready. It took some time for me to battle some demons, meaning: my own self doubt and over saturation of knowledge.  I’m done with all that. It’s about to happen. I have a few more finishing touches and it’ll be out there for the world.

hey-girl-you-got-this-i-believe-in-you

For now though, let’s talk about the creative weekend I had a few weekends ago.

Do you remember when I made a phone case using CaseApp for my daughter?

The Case of Loving a Creative| When you love a creative and a creative giveaway with Case App| Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress

Making my own phone case was ridiculously simple to do, and man did people LOVE it! My daughter is still in love with her case- her friends are too. They have even asked if they could order one! 🙂 That totally made me feel good. I guess I have some teen cred. My friends at CaseApp have a sister company that is just as awesome, StickerApp. StickerApp makes custom labels, stickers, and made to order stickers.  My daughters and I had the best time creating custom stickers on a Saturday morning.

You guys,  it’s so fun, easy, and kind of addicting to create stickers!

You just pick what kind of sticker you would like:

sticker-app-custom-sticker-page

I decided to make various styles to show you some different examples. I used some of my own original designs that you’ve seen here on my blog and on Instagram. 😉

Here’s what you need to do: upload your image and size it to you’re liking- done!

sticker-app-always

My girls helped me choose which designs to use for my stickers. The girls really wanted in on the action, so I uploaded their designs, too. 🙂  (Their designs are the donut and coffee.)

my-sticker-sheet-sticker-app

I couldn’t make stickers without representing my blog! 🙂 The possibilities are endless, seriously. I made stickers for blog promotion, for happy mail, for good deeds (random acts of kindness), for my kids, for you, for me. 🙂 I can see using StickerApp for holiday mail and blog swaps. 😉

I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Sticker App.

My friends at StickerApp are the BEST!!  They are helping me celebrate my birthday month with a 20% off promo code for you to customize your own stickers using the: AOKBIRTHDAY20. That’s not it, friends!! StickerApp is giving away a $40 code to make your own stickers ANNNNNND a promo code to make your own case at CaseApp.

My First Stitch Fix!!

*I am a Stitch Fix Influencer, therefore this post contains affiliate links. All opinions I share are my own.

My First Stitch Fix 🙂

So, this post is going to be different than most posts that I post here. Was that a riddle? No, it’s the introduction to my new love affair with Stitch Fix. Ladies, I’ve been watching Stitch Fix unboxings for years, and I’ve thought, “That’s so awesome, I’d love to do that.” However, I didn’t, I just sat back wanting but not doing. The reason why: Because I often do not do things for myself. I’m usually putting everyone else’s needs and wants before my own, annnd if I’m being 100% honest I usually feel guilty when I do something for myself. I know that’s crazy, right? But I have a feeling I’m not the only one who feels like this.

stitch-fix-personal-stylist-subscription-box23

When I got an email about becoming a Stitch Fix influencer, I jumped at it! I had been wanting to try this service PLUS it’s my birthday month, which felt like the best time to do a little something for my aging self. 🙂

I got my box and I was SO happy, so happy that I did my first Instagram story. 🙂 Doing my first Instagram story actually made me feel old, because I had to Google and watch like 30 gazillion YouTube tutorials before I figured out what to do. 😀

img_5948

Anyway, when the box showed up I couldn’t wait to tear it open with iPhone in hand to snap all the pictures.  More suspense!

unboxing-stitch-fix

I think everyone knows about Stitch Fix by now, but if you don’t here’s how it works.

You create a profile and fill out a questionnaire on Stitch Fix, these will help your personal stylist get a feeling of your style. Along with filling out the questionnaire you can also send links to your blog, social media, and your Pinterest style board, this may help guide your stylist further. You can also leave a little note for your stylist to let her know what you’re looking for.

There’s a $20 styling fee, that fee is added to any purchase you make from the box. So, if you want to keep something that is $50 you only pay $30. You do not have to keep it all, but if you do you receive 25% off + $20 the whole box. As you can see in the picture above there’s a mailing package inside my box for my returns. The package is prepaid, therefore all you have to do is drop it in the mail. 🙂 If you decide to send it all back you still pay the $20 styling fee.

My stylist sent me a sweet note.

She also gave me ideas on how to style the different items she sent.

You’re ready to see what I got, aren’t you? 🙂

Omaha Two Pocket Top

plaid-top-stitch-fix

I love plaid and it’s always in for fall. My friend Ashley just wrote about her love of plaid and I totally agree with her, plaid + fall = perfection!

I was delighted that the top was blue and white, you know, like my team. 🙂 I was impressed with the the quality and feeling of the top. I also liked that it was a little longer in the back.

As much as I adore this shirt, it was a little too big on me. The sleeves were a smidgen too long, and because it was a bit longer in the back and I’m a shorty, it made me look a little more bulkier. I really wanted to keep this one, but decided to send it back. I couldn’t exchange it because they no longer had any more of these tops available. I was a bummed about that, but then I thought that’s a good thing because there are not a million gazillion people wearing the same style. I imagine they only have a set amount, which means the likelihood of you showing up somewhere wearing the same thing as anyone else is slim with Stitch Fix. I hope.

Will it stay or will it go–  Sadly this one is a gonner. 🙁

Bernadette Lace Overlay Raglan Top

lace-and-gray-top-stitch-fix

I have a thing for lace. I own quite a few lace tops, so this top made me smile. My husband said, “This looks like something you already own.” He’s right, it kind of does, but all my lace tops are either sleeveless or short sleeved, so I obviously needed a longer sleeved lace top.

Did it stay or did it go? What do you think? Of course it stayed! 🙂

Psst… the bracelets I’m wearing with this outfit are from my friend Shelly’s Etsy shop

stitch-fix-lace-top

Greenich Striped Knit Top &  Jimmy Skinny Jean

stripe-shirt-with-patches-stitch-fix

This top was cute. I imagine it would be nice for layering. I was impressed again with the quality, because although this top may look like a regular long sleeve tee, it was far from that. It was thicker, which is great for those cooler days.

Did it stay or did it go? This one went back

The pants in this outfit and the outfit above are the same. These are the Jimmy Skinny jeans my stylist sent. I knew I would have no problem with them fitting these thighs of mine. 😉 But again, I’m short, so I did have to give ’em a little roll. Surprisingly, they were not super long on me.

When I wear my skinny jeans the one thing I detest more than slouching jeans after wearing them for a few hours is bunchy knees. I just do not like bunchy knees with boots. Though these jeans didn’t give me the overly bunchy knees that other jeans have given me, there was a some bunching. This may have to do with my height or maybe I have small knees, I don’t know. It ain’t easy being short…

Did it stay or did it go? The jeans went back. I really wanted to make them work, but I’m hard to please when it comes to jeans.

Fatima Dress

stitch-fix-floral-dress

I am not sure who was more excited to see me try on this dress my husband or my daughter. I don’t know why, it’s not like I do not wear dresses! The dress was absolutely lovely. I’m not sure my pictures do it justice, but you tie the dress on the side.

stitch-fix-floral-dress-bow

Did it stay or did it go?

I felt super feminine in this dress. And as much as everyone here thought I looked great in the dress, I wasn’t in love with the dress on me, so it went back.

I really enjoyed my first Stitch Fix box and I cannot wait for my next one! (I made sure to add more to my profile and a note for my stylist to help with my next box.) Which should get here next week!!! 🙂 My husband told me to go for it, because it’ll show up right before my birthday. He’s such a sweetheart.

I think I’ll have to get him a Stitch Fix too.

Yes, him. OH! You didn’t know? Stitch Fix, is now helping the fellas! And my fella could use some new work clothes.

I Gotta Groupon Coupon, I Gotta Groupon… hey, hey, hey

A few days ago I wrote about wanting to put some decorative attention into my home using Groupon Goods. I was surprised that a few of you didn’t know that Groupon was a great place to turn to for home goods. I wasn’t shocked that YOU, my people, are just as money savvy as me. It seems that the consensus is: we all love a good deal.  Since this is the case, I thought I’d let you know that Groupon has coupons. That was fun to say, right? Groupon Coupon. Anyway, I humor myself way too easily….

Picture This

In my last post we’ve established that I have kids. And I think we also established in my last Groupon post that I usually put them first. Since you know this of me, you may find it amazingly difficult to learn that I, proud mother of three, blogger, and constant taker of pictures, have not developed over THOUSANDS of pictures! Currently, I have 1,919 undeveloped pictures in my iPhone & who knows how many in my computer’s hard drive. That’s SAD. I hate that I’ve become this way. When the babies were younger I made photo books and printed out pictures right away, but now I’m all… let me text you a picture of my kids. Which by the way my mom enjoys but still keeps asking for HARD COPIES.

I'm about to make it rain pictures for my mama. It's FINALLY time to get those pictures out of my phone and in her hands. :) #Spon #Groupon

It’s NOT Mother’s Day, but I’m about to make MY mama the happiest lady

Because I’m going to make it RAIN PICTURES!!! That’s right, I’m finally getting those pictures into my mama’s hands all the way in Texas. 🙂 I haven’t decided whether I’m making her a photo book or just sending her, her word: “hard copies”. Either way I know I’m saving 50% at Snapfish!!! Yes, I’m using my, say it with me: Groupon Coupon!!

Decisions, Decisions.... What shall I choose? I have a Groupon coupon and I'm ready to use it. |Anyone else out there have thousands of pictures in their phones? I'm sharing how Groupon coupon is coming to the rescue to get those pictures to my... #spon #Groupon

I think I’ll wait to make her a calendar for the holidays. She loved the one I made her a few years ago, although, I know she really enjoyed the Charleston Firefighters one I got her for 2015. How do I know that? Well, because she asked me where her calendar was this year. 😀 WHOOPS! I hope sweet pictures of the kids, my furry little man, and beautiful Washington state will do. 🙂

D4D_7258_Cover-Photo-1-300x300

Anyway, in the event that you’re not a slacker pants like me and you don’t have to scurry for pictures, Groupon has over 71, 500 coupons for thousands of stores, including  STARBUCKS! 😉

Go get saving and tell me what you pick up! Also, help me choose, pretty please:

Should I send my mom a photo book or prints? Kids calendar or Charleston Firefighters (or I guess I should go local and get a Seattle one instead)?

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

*This is a sponsored post on behalf of Groupon. All opinions are my own.

Who here loves a good DIY show? If you answered YES you’re my people, I wish we could binge watch HGTV together. 🙂 I have literally spent a weekend watching home improvement shows, and I have NO shame admitting that. Every time I watch an episode of Fixer Upper I dream of the things I want to do to this house. That is, if it were mine. Currently, I’m renting a nice house in Washington, and I’m not allowed to paint anything. I feel like paint is a fun and easy way to spruce up your home, but since that’s out of the question I have to search for other ways to spruce things up around here.

Home Sweet Home: Daydreaming about my dream master bedroom and sharing a secret with my inner circle about our current home. :)

Inner Circle Home Confession:

When we moved into this house we all HATED the kids’ bathroom, it was dark, dingy, and dated. Between you and I (don’t tell our landlord), we decided to change up their bathroom by pulling out the bathtub door. That thing was horrid, it had swans and mildew- I have no idea why it was needed. In place of the bathtub door we put a bright white shower curtain. The floors were a dark green and showing their age. You could also tell that the renters before us were smokers because there were cigarette burns on the floor! (The bathroom also smelled of smoke, that must’ve been the spot.) We placed peel and stick white marble-like tile over the hideous floor and added a few decorative touches to brighten up things. The kids are happier with the change, I am too. 🙂

kids-bathroom

But I want more CHANGE!

Here’s the thing: we’ll do anything for our kids to help them feel comfortable in their space, which often times means we forget about us. My room is BORING. My husband and I have a huge master bedroom with big windows, a fancy boxspring, a mattress (that’s right, no frame), a dresser set, and nightstands. I would love to give our area a little redo, too. So, I’ve been daydreaming about what I’d like to add in our space. I’ve found some really awesome and affordable finds at Groupon Goods that I would love to get my hands on.

Daydream with me (because we can’t binge watch HGTV together).

Remember those photos my husband and I took on our anniversary? Well, I’d like to hang one of those over our bed like this:

Groupon Canvas Photos

I wouldn’t mind a few customizable throw pillows. I think I’d go beachy. You know I love to create. 🙂

Groupon Customizable Canvas Pillows

We’d get a bed frame! We haven’t had one of those for a few years! I kind of like the minimalist look, how about you? And the price tag on this baby doesn’t hurt either.

groupon-home-goods-bed-frame

Tabletop lamps would be nice. Because you know, occasionally I read in bed. 😉  What do you think about this one?

groupon-goods-table-lamp

I could keep going because Groupon Goods has plenty wonderful finds that I’d love to add to my dream bedroom. 🙂 A girl can day dream, right?

What room in your house needs love? Did you ever move in somewhere and not notice all the flaws until after you signed the papers?
